We all know that feeling….just got done with an incredible, mind-expanding conversation with someone, read a chapter of an enlightening book or had a great meditation and you feel like you get it, you’re motivated and where you want to be, almost at equilibrium. But then you go to work or your out with friends and the feeling starts to ware off because you get out of equilibrium, possibly focusing on the wrong things or escaping the present moment. So what are your simple tips/techniques for continuing this throughout the day?
@thatguyritchie, Well I’ve heard that keeping momentum going is very important. So instead of finding a truth and holding onto it, expecting it to keep you at peak enlightened “equilibrium”, you have to constantly re-discover and renew that inspiration. I haven’t mastered that myself, but I imagine it involves staying curious, non-judgmental, and open minded. Making it a point to do new things every day really helps you stay inspired too. I’ve been doing that lately and it makes all the difference in the world.
@thatguyritchie, I feel you on this one. What I usually do to help me stay in that mindset is spend some time in nature. By myself. Take a walk, exercise, lay on the grass, bench, take a nap. Plus I do talk to myself a lot too, which helps a lot. And mainly observe your self and everything around you. Be present as much as you can :)
Breathing in a focused and relaxed manner down to your stomach is when your Soul is Home. Not breathing consciously is when your Soul is Drifting, and your Mind is dominating the current behaviour.
To be Awaken is when I feel my Soul is Home and this happens through proper “meditation breathing”. Also beware of the silence between the sounds from the external environment. However, be gentle towards yourself, otherwise the Mind tries to punish/ blame and this interferes with Being Home. Hence, Let Go.
Only use the “Reflective Mind” to improve the Presences. For example, by asking yourself an “Intelligent Question” that comes with an “Intuitive Answer” and thereby adjusting appropriately in the Present Moment to improve either self-interest or preferably others-interest.
Let Go (resistance) and Be Home at all Present Moments is our Evolution towards the Awakening :-)
@thatguyritchie, Try to remind yourself as often as you can to be aware. Ask yourself the question: “Am I aware right now?” or “What am I aware of right now?”
If you want to gain a lot of momentum you need to constantly practice, from moment to moment. (Long) retreats are very beneficial as I can say from personal experience. It is difficult to remain the equanimity and momentum when you are outside again. The more you practice, the easier it will be.
Theoretically is easy but practically is difficult.
There are two things should be noted in this case:
1. We are accepting from others that would make us having a feeling “enlightened”, happiness, etc.
2. We have a feeling “enlightened”, happiness (and similar to these) from inside of ourselves (whether through meditation or not)
//The first is rarely to be produced since we don’t always have a chance closer to it, but secondly (closer to) gives a chance for us to be enlightened everywhere, wherever we need it. It’s because the source of happiness is within (coming from) ourselves. We can bring it wherever we are//
//Theoretically, is by prolong practicing meditation around 3 – 4 hours for one session / day or twice a day. And again, prolong it until we master it. Otherwise there is no way for us to prolong our sensation (enlightened feeling).
It’s because there are fighting effect in between the effect of meditation against effect from our daily life. Which one is the stronger will banish the opposite. And without mastering it or making it (the effect of enlightened) even larger than the effect from everyday life (the opposite), we can’t prolong our enlightened feeling.//
The points are:
– To prolong such a specific feeling of something, is by having the key (cause of it) to produce it and prolong (forcing) it and become a habit, until we master it. Then we will aware that, even feeling can be conditioned, so we feel of something even longer and stronger than before. //In this case: the stronger (prolong it, master it) is the winner.//
– Or even more practical, is by practicing patience. Focusing our awareness and feelings (respectively) a lot more just to what we are doing. More and more it will calm our feeling and it’s like HUGE OF CALM WATER, where a stone coming into it and it won’t make a significant wave to the HUGE OF CALM WATER.
+++ Prolong it until we (closer to) master it. Prolong it until it’s bigger than the effect from the opposite +++
+++ There is no easy way in this case +++ //As simple as that but as difficult as maintaining discipline.//
What is enlightenment? The absolute awareness. Or?
They teach us to meditate, on our path to enlightenment, yes? What do we do when we meditate? We focus on the present moment. How does this get us to enlightenment. Focusing on the present moment in meditation, if you practice it enough, leaks out into your conscious state of mind too. So, you are left living in the present moment, all the time, well.. most of the time, unless you’re a monk, most likely. Meditate.
If you think about it, telling yourself, you are not yet enlightened, is in a way admitting to yourself, that the state your in right now, is not enlightened. See enlightened as something you are, not something you will be. Your natural state is what you are now. Don’t make enlightenment a material goal, something you wish to be through a thought process. Enlightenment is not a thought process, it comes from that behind the thought.
An animal (Of course I cannot say this about every single animal) is in an enlightened, natural state. They do not emotional let the past or future effect their present. A lion lives for the moment.
Be aware of everything, always.
