What do you know about dragons?

There’s a huge collective knowledge here, and I’d like to tap into it. What do you guys (and ladies, of course) know about dragons? Symbology, mythology, etc? I realize I could do a search on Google, but I’m about to go to work and would like other people’s input.

More specifically, something called, "the path of the dragon". Is that a real thing? What does it mean? In meditation I saw a dragon that spoke of it, saying I had chosen to walk the path of the dragon.

So, like I said–what do you all know about dragons?

@Manimal – have you ever heard of “the path of the dragon”? The more I think about it, and the more I read from people (other than Skyrim comments), I’m starting to piece it together bit by bit. This dragon didn’t seem like it wanted to fight; it was almost like it wanted to help me. And it told me I had chosen “the path of the dragon”.

What’s the path of the dragon? I know there’s a bunch of games and movies with that name but that can’t be it?

My take is that it’s your mind’s creative way of telling you that you desire to meet your full potential. To set out on a path, the path of being great. You associate dragons with greatness. Could be all there is to it.

In some disciplines of martial arts, the dragon represents wisdom, contrasted by the tiger representing wrath. Similar to the Id and Superego. The dragon is not unlike a demigod, as suggested above, whereas the tiger might be mortal. And although the reptile might represent mastery among the athletic, to those acknowledgers of Eastern Astrology, the dragon can manifest blessings as well as malice.

@jake arends – I meditate during cold showers, usually in the dark. This time though, the lights were on, and I didn’t have to work to get into a meditative state. As soon as I closed my eyes, my mind was clear and this dragon appeared.

Try the cold shower meditating out–it can get pretty intense!

Varanus Komodoensus. They only live on five islands in Indonesia. Full grown adults weigh 70 kilograms and can grow up to 3 meters long on average. Top of the food chain in their respective ecosystem. They have septic pathogens in their saliva, acting as a sort of venom.

Yeah, I know about Komodo dragons, and this was definitely not one of them. I need to find out more about this Chinese mythology text referring to “the path of the dragon”, too.

If it’s coming from your subconscious, you probably already have the answers.

What do dragons mean to you?

Manimal told me something along those lines, too. I just haven’t had the time to sit down and ask myself yet.

I’m not posting on a random webiste, I’m searching for answers. I doubt a dragon would be concerned with my time management abilities.

@jetsetplayboy, sounds awesome
I wouldn’t try interpreting it though.
