Your beliefs literally create your reality. Thoughts are things. They are just as real as anything else in the universe, and whether you believe it or not, they determine the reality in which you live. Even if you don’t believe it….your non-belief still makes it your reality. So literally, truly, your beliefs are the key to your life.

@chodebalm, What if we constantly live in the present moment – a dis-identification with thoughts? How does that fit in?

I think rather than thoughts create reality – consciousness creates reality. The double slit experiment suggests this.

And if we constantly live in the present moment – which is to say when there is distance between our awareness and our thoughts – we allow consciousness to come in and once consciousness comes in enough magical things happen and you manifest your true purpose/desires or whatever it is that will make you fullfilled/blissful.

@qwuakeup, Are you telling me that you have no thoughts when you live in the present moment? Humans are always thinking. We can’t not have thoughts. Meditation is the only way to detach from your thoughts and be thoughtless. But that’s not what I’m talking about, really. I’m talking about beliefs. For example, I used to believe that everything was a conspiracy. When something would happen and the news would report it, my first thought would be that it was a conspiracy and that it happened for a reason. The crazy thing was, I was always able to find seemingly valid reasons to support my belief that it was a conspiracy. So literally the truth in my life was that everything was a conspiracy. It was true for me, but that was not the case for everyone else. Just as much as I’d swear it was a conspiracy, there’d be someone else swearing it wasn’t and that I was crazy. We were living 2 different realities – 2 different truths. What’s real for one person may not be real for another. It’s your beliefs that dictate that.

If you subscribe to a certain belief system, that belief system becomes your life and your reality. So if someone believes that you can manifest whatever you want in your life just by thinking it, then they’re going to see events in their life that support that. If, on the other hand, they don’t believe you can manifest things just by thinking it, then they’re not going to see events happen and believe they made it happen. They could, for example, believe it’s just random and coincidental. Both are true, because truth is subjective.

I have a lot :). Here it goes:
All awareness/knowledge/perception is by contrasts. Change is what makes perception/consciousness even possible. We cannot be aware of something that is unchanging (like we cannot be aware of ether, or something that is continuously there, the persistent object is dismissed from consciousness). The unchanging is the infinite potential ground of being, from which we can even observe change. Anything that you observe cannot be you (like a fire cannot burn itself). When something is observed, it is immediately transcended. ‘You’ are the infinite potential ecstatic unborn space from which all experience arises/passes in cycles/vibration. Beauty is variety, harmony and movement and beauty is exactly what life (infinite diversity, harmony, impermanence(change)) itself is. Impermanence is what makes beauty even possible. Life is change, more the change, more the life, Less the change – closer it is to death. Death is a mental concept. You were never born and will never die (Do you experientially remember having being born?, It just happens in a seamless flow). There are no ‘Events’, events are created because of our mental conception or limited view of reality. Nothing is abrupt. Everything is flowing and dancing in perfect harmony in the realm of the absolute. Direct experience is the only thing there is. It would be more appropriate to just say ‘Observe what is’, and nothing more. You are ‘That’.

Whatever you are doing you at any time, you are physically modifying your brain to become better at it due to our brain’s neuroplasticity. I find it an inspiring concept that stops me wasting time on pointless things.
Also, the odds that every single one of your ancestors lived to reproductive age, and the correct sperm and egg met in order to create the person that they did all the way back to the origins of humanity is 1 in 10^2,685,000 (only considers humanity, doesn’t tackle the survival of the species up to mankind, or the odds that life even started at all, or the solar system formed the way it did etc.). Roughly the same odds as 2 million people all getting together and each rolling a trillion sided die and them all getting the same number. It just makes me appreciate the extremely unlikely, statistically impossible, chain of events that had to occur in order for you to exist. (I understand that SOMETHING had to happen, there’s nothing particularly special about what did happen, but if something else had happened YOU wouldn’t be here)

@chodebalm, Yes it’s impossible to not have thoughts, but we can put our awareness on the things around us, like the aliveness in our body, in the things we see, in the things we taste, on all our sense perceptions, which is to say – dis-identify from thought.

Thoughts will go on, but there’s distance between thoughts, and consciousness.

Yes I understand what you’re saying, and I’m not saying this is the answer, but if we are in the moment – beliefs, thoughts, all those things which are constructs – aren’t in our current awareness. All there is right now, is the screen, the keyboard, the senses around you, etc and as you move through the world you are constantly in this state.

I see beliefs as limiting – they limit the world and I don’t think they can encapsulate reality as a whole but break it down into just labels and perceptions. But thats’s another thread!

Some more:
You are immortal because ‘it is impossible to be conscious of being unconscious’. So you are eternally conscious.

Attention is the primordial energy force. ‘Where ever attention flows, that aspect/quality grows’. This applies to ‘Every’ single thing.

Duality makes everything fair and all realities equivalent when seen from the larger picture/expanded consciousness.

@drunkenwizard, now, consider the odds that not only are you here (which are, for all intent and purposes, statistically zero), but you are here NOW.

That you not only beat infinitesimally small odds to exist in the first place, but that you find yourself existing right now in this moment. Consider, the average lifespan to be a mere 80 years, that is 80 in 14 billion up to this point. Or 1 in 175 million (roughly the same odds as winning powerball!).

Then, factor in the fact that time is not restricted to the past, it is, for all intent and purposes, infinite. That it could just as likely be any point in the future beyond our existence. Now you again find yourself staring at a number so infinitesimally small, it can be called statistically zero.

Those are the odds we find ourselves not only here, but now. Statistically zero * statistically zero.

No matter how much I try, I don’t think I can fully grasp the scale of the universe, both in size and shape. When you view the earth, you’re just one tiny speck that can’t even be picked out from the rest of the scene. Then this happens again whenever you scale up your view (solar system, galaxy, universe, etc). My mind just can’t comprehend something like this. Same thing for how old the universe is.

To build on that, the idea of sonder totally blew my mind when I saw it on this site. It’s so weird sometimes to just see a random stranger walk past you and then to wonder what their life is like in detail.

Did a good dose of mushrooms the other day. Realized that simply possessing the ability to perceive anything means something, the two conclusions following:

1) Life is about having conscious experiences, simply due to the fact we CAN have perceive things or be conscious, and the all states of experience should be pursued.

2) Two ultimate dimensions govern conscious experience: One path of experience that leads to you a state of bliss and another that leads to a state of suffering. Life should be about liberating yourself from all actions that take you toward places of suffering and try to reach a state of bliss or “Pure Experience”. Purely being in the present moment, experiencing the overwhelming display of life flooding into your mind and being blissfully immersed in it.

In the Aymara culture (an Andean culture in Bolivia,) the concept of the past is thought of as “in front, or forward,” while the concept of the future is “in back, or behind.”

The Ayamara believe that one travels the path of life walking backwards. You can see where you’ve been and what you’ve done by reflecting on the past (ie looking “forward” while walking backward) but the future cannot be seen, and we walk blindly into it (ie “behind” you as you walk backward.)

…kinda makes sense though, doesn’t it?

@qwuakeup,

Human vision is comprised of 3 primary colors that allow us to see our visible spectrum. Butterflies have a spectrum comprised of 5 colors. All of 3 of our colors and 2 more we have no possible way to even comprehend. Mantis Shrimp vision is comprised of 16 colors; that is a rainbow of 13 extra colors we cannot even imagine.

@alljuicedup, I was thinking the same hehe.. i.e. thank you stars for dying and lending your energy for all these years :P

To bring my thoughts full circle: all the genitalia that ever existed and will continue to propel us into the future, allows the universe to experience itself through various forms and relationships. Evolution is almost like a course (education) that the “universe” attends everyday, until the end of its days.

Orgasms man. To simplify it, it’s all about orgasms haha.
