What is shallow?

Anonymous (@) 7 years, 8 months ago

In dating terms, is it shallow to refuse to date a woman who is overweight, to the point of being obese, but has a steady job, and is overall nice?

If you don’t want to date her, don’t. I think it’s even more shallow to date someone out of sympathy because you feel bad if you reject them. Some people are better off as friends, especially if sexual attraction isn’t present because that becomes an important part of a relationship.

I definitely second this. I’ve never been there myself, but watching good friends of mine go through the, “wait, I was a pity date?” epiphany… or anything of the like, really… it was heartbreaking, to say the least.

You don’t understand. Some people like big butts and cannot lie.

I agree with @ponysparkles it is much worse to date someone out of pity.

Shallow is actually what you do on this forum. It’s hilarious but the example is perfect. Open threads on which you replied and try to find the opposite of shallow. It’s gonna be missing. It’s depth! So, if someone called you shallow they were spot on. If no one did, they should. I won’t be surprised if you’re creating threads on here to do a research, though. :) I’ll do a research on inscient psychologists FOR THE LULZ!

er…OK. I may need the next reply in Standard English, but I won’t bother…

And I’m not a psychologist.

I said that because I’m actually a marketer by profession, and your all inane comments reminded me of Aspies…. look even now, you want to engage me in conversation and want the whole world to view you well… you seemingly want to irk me, not working..

[Hidden]
Marlon (97) (@shoeopener) 7 years, 8 months ago ago

I don’t want anything actually. Not sure why you think being honest must offend you. You must be a bad marketer.

i don’t believe you’re honest…..

Taking a person’s job into account, doesn’t get much more shallow than that.

Health and beauty aren’t shallow attributes.

[Hidden]
Anonymous (175) (@) 7 years, 8 months ago ago

haha… So choices are wrong, got it…

I like how you say you feel down continually, yet project this assured/ballsy persona..

And yes, many people use job/vocation as an attribute, nothing wrong in that.

[Hidden]
Manimal (2,998) (@manimal) 7 years, 8 months ago ago

Nothing on point, and a bunch of lame attempts at mudslinging. As expected.
You don’t know the first thing about discussing things.

Choices are great, judging a person based on her job is pathetic. It seems you don’t really know what attraction is.

As for the off-topic shit about feeling down constantly, you made that up. Having fun, are we?
Go back to your cave, nobody likes you.

[Hidden]
Anonymous (175) (@) 7 years, 8 months ago ago

I know that attraction is subjective. I also know that yes, you project assuredness when it doesn’t exist. I further know that I don’t make anything up, and I just post at you for the lulz…since you insult me a lot and then expect me to welcome you as a “friend” lol.. As I said prior, I think you’re Asperger’s you show many of the signs.

What does job has to do with attraction? If you feel like dating her, do it. If not, don’t. Just avoid doing it because of sympathy.

[Hidden]
Anonymous (175) (@) 7 years, 8 months ago ago

Ambition, drive, like values…. those evil points of attraction, right?

[Hidden]
Manimal (2,998) (@manimal) 7 years, 8 months ago ago

It’s not about attraction, ok.
This somewhat human being has at long last managed to meet a person of the opposite gender who doesn’t get sick by his sheer presence. She’s not in great condition, but she’s like the only one who’s ever given him a chance and probably the only one who ever will, but he doesn’t really find her attractive.

Still, he’s desperate… so he tries to get people to validate his decision, so he can tell himself that he’s not a wretched maggot, so he can tell himself that he’s right.

He’s not the first one to make a thread like this, far from the only one, there’s countless people like him.
No matter what you tell him, he won’t listen.

Anonymous (175) (@) 7 years, 8 months ago ago

er…OK. I like your projection, which you continually accuse me of, but yeah, one-up-man-ship like an Aspie online, eh? It makes you feel big, despite claiming you feel inadequate in many other threads lol…

Sorry, but you’re an Aspie, admit it….your posts are very telling of this…

What next, I’m supposed to “respect you”? Respect is earned, not given away…

And who I am to “listen” to you? haha…sorry, you’re just a stranger online I don’t need to listen to you, especially somebody who doesn’t get basic contemporary social standards.

Manimal (2,998) (@manimal) 7 years, 8 months ago ago

Yet again, nothing on point, just typical slander.

Why so defensive?

[Hidden]
Anonymous (175) (@) 7 years, 8 months ago ago

You slander me. and try to “gauge” who I am.

I just think you come across as a sociopath. Opinions and perceptions, those evil things?

[Hidden]
Manimal (2,998) (@manimal) 7 years, 8 months ago ago

You clearly don’t know what slander means, but then again… what butthurt fool ever did know that?

You don’t know anything about psychology, nobody gives a shit about your deluded “diagnoses”.

[Hidden]
Anonymous (175) (@) 7 years, 8 months ago ago

Also, you respond harshly to me, I do so to you…no skin off my nose.

You must be small if you expect a stranger to always conform to you…

I’m attracted to confidence. If a woman holds her head high, makes her presence known and displays a sensibility I like I’ll probably let her know I like her. And you know in this case, more cushing for the pushing… haha jk. Ain’t nothing wrong with extra curves, may not be that healthy but the way you walk and hold yourself can convey a little beauty too. Besides I’m a cook, I can work magic with food. A lady who can appreciate my magic means something (haha now I’m just playing around, I’d want my SO’s quality of life to be greater ’cause of me so I’d definitely be creating tasty gluten free, vegetarian, fucking coconut milk containing, low fat salads and stuff)

[Hidden]
Manimal (2,998) (@manimal) 7 years, 8 months ago ago

Dude, coconut is sky high fat. Coconut and low fat don’t go together. But it’s all good, because the fat isn’t dangerous and it isn’t fattening.

But mate… valuing a person on how much they appreciate your stuff is r8 fucked up. It’s gonna make both of you really unstable and dependent and stuff, and it’s just ego all the way man.
You can’t truly love someone if you’re occupied with what they think of you.

[Hidden]
Milo (57) (@milo) 7 years, 8 months ago ago

Naw brother, what I mean is if my large gorgeous girlfriend says she appreciates the food I make I shall continue to make her food. Only I’ll make her that healthy grub with the lowfat fixins because I’m looking out for her health

[Hidden]
Anonymous (107) (@) 7 years, 8 months ago ago

if you love fat and consistency then why not?

[Hidden]
Manimal (2,998) (@manimal) 7 years, 8 months ago ago

…so the attributes of a person’s appearance is what makes the person? And that’s what makes them attractive?

[Hidden]
Anonymous (107) (@) 7 years, 8 months ago ago

physical sexual attraction is a part of dating… if the psychological compatibility is sexy enough to hold attraction then no problem right? A person is made of a lot of things.

Manimal (2,998) (@manimal) 7 years, 8 months ago ago

I dunno, chubby chasing is like falling for someone because they wear a corset or smoke a specific brand of cigarettes, or because they play your favourite fps on your favourite console.

Seriously, mods… how can this “person” still be here. None of the people who were banned ever went this far, it’s time for you to drop the hammer of justice on this atrocity.

Now, everyone else. Who wants to place a bet on how long it takes before Desi starts to accuse Sasho or me of “white-knighting” after this post?

Marlon (97) (@shoeopener) 7 years, 8 months ago ago

You tell him!

[Hidden]
Marlon (97) (@shoeopener) 7 years, 8 months ago ago

This is very fucked up, indeed. I personally have a lot to say on this topic, but the irony is too big. Calling everyone an Aspie is shallow, no need to mention replies are about sucking up to the OP and not what he wrote.

It’s not shallow to not date a person who has a steady job and is nice overall. It’s completely ignorant, because steady job doesn’t mean a steady date, being nice overall doesn’t ever happen. Not having any deeper concern about things may make you believe someone is nice overall but this is shallow thinking. No genuine interest. Nada.

Break it up, enough of the namecalling and off-topic bickering or I’ll have to shut this thread down.

And @desifemilove, that’s the second “fuck off” response I’ve seen from you. Again, if you want to stick around, that’s fine. But we don’t want people talking to each other that way here and I’ve told you that once already. That’s strike two.
