What jobs do you work at that that are not your typical 9-5 office job?

As the title suggests. A little background below if you are so inclined (btw I love this website and you are all amazing people)-

I’m currently working in the Funds industry 9-5.30 and I’ve already done a lot of travelling although there would be more to do. Although I joined the job full of hope and enthusiasm after being unemployed for 1 year, after 2 and a half years I now find myself in a position where there are no promotions as no one is leaving in the recession. I don’t feel like I can’t even reach goals in the company. No matter how much hard work you put in you don’t get rewarded for it. But it’s not about promotions, that would just make the job slightly more fulfilling. I know I should be grateful for having a decent paying job when unemployment is so high but you guys will understand. For I have become a cubicle zombie, and a white collar slave if you will.

However there is a beautiful upside- I’m in the fortunate and grateful position were I have just purchased a house in cash, so I have no mortgage. Now I’m broke. This has shifted the security in my life from having a job to having shelter in a debt free environment. I’ve contemplated growing vegetables in my back yard etc. I’m single at the moment but would like to start a family one day and I have a fear that if I get a lower paying job that affords me more freedom then years down the line I won’t be able to support a family. I know that’s probably an irrational fear as it’s holding me back to some degree but it’s still something to consider.

Right now I’m in a position where I’m brainstorming possible opportunities before I make a decision so it would be great to hear from you guys. I really feel like this website has opened my eyes and the sense of community is giving me the push to be who I want to be. I’m getting closer to realising that and I’m becoming more confident to take the jump and make a decision.

@begood2, I realize my post was kinda vague. if you have had anything published, or have published something yourself (such as a blog) you need to share this link with your application. if you have written more than one paper of the same subject or that fall into the same category (like psychology) include these.. make sure they are not overly subjective and have proper citations/links to the sources from which you derived the information. i didn’t think of this at the time, but if you refer to their official guidelines regarding sources, you may be able to find out which sources they prefer and share your writings which utilized similar sources

@begood2, We have the strongest worker’s union in the world (especially in the state of Victoria).
Not saying that is necessarily something to be proud of. Its just the answer to your question.

@zencowboy, i’d say that is something to be proud of. In America, unions are on the decline, and strangely enough, American workers take pride in how badly they get abused.
