What the hell? Lingering dream

Emily (@briarxxxrose) 9 years, 7 months ago

Dude, I just had the strangest feeling.
No dream I have ever had made me as extremely Emotional as the one I had about a week ago. I feel like it was a recovered memory from a past life or something. Its such a hard thing to explain.
But it was about a child that was aborted. I dont know if I was his biological mother or if I was adopting him, but whatever the case he was MY child. Well this baby boy had been through alot of pain (including the abortion that he survived and a surgery with no medication.) I hate reliving this dream. I feel like crying everytime I do. Its extremely overwhelming.
When I woke up, I was so extremely sad that I couldnt hold him. I wanted him to be real so I could hold my baby. I feel right now like I lost a child in my lifetime. I dont know what the hell this is about! I seriously feel like that dream has happened to me. What the Hell man! What the hell can I do? I feel stupid as hell grieving or a baby that I never had that was never even real.

Any thoughts as to why this dream was so extremely real? I am sure we have all had dreams that we felt were real and then as time went on, that feeling fades. but not this one. The lingering feelings are increasingly intense. Any suggestions how to snap out of it or what is causing it?

P.S. I am extremely against abortion. So I dont know if that has anything to do with it. I am also a mother of a baby boy. But I dont know where he would come into it.

Any help would be appreciated! Please be nice though :)

@briarxxxrose, Have you ever had a lucid dream before? Because if you havent, it would probably feel overwhelming. What you had is a lucid dream, a dream where you made a deeper connection with your subconscious and remembered a lot more of the dream than your subconscious wanted you to. When that happens, you often wake up feeling the feelings you felt during the lucid dream. Try and think about why you had this dream, and what your mind is trying to tell you? Try and figure out why your dream presented you with this information. There are also some very good dream interpretor websites you should check out, just google those words. Hope this helps.

@briarxxxrose, Sounds to me like you think abortion is extremely wrong, you extremely love your baby boy, and you made the connection in your head that an aborted baby could have grown up into a wonderful baby boy like your own, so that manifested itself in your dream. It seems like you’re pretty passionate about abortions stopping children from existing/growing up/whatever; maybe this has been going on in your mind subconsciously lately. I’d say this is just your mind saying that it’s passionately against abortion.

@yoinkie, I dont believe it was a lucid dream because I didnt know I was dreaming. I have had dreams where I am aware that I am dreaming and am able to control the entire thing. I do that extremely often. But lately I have been trying to avoid it because I find it more fun to dream for real. I have no idea why I had this dream. I wish I knew why this dream occurred. But I am clueless.

@alexishungry, I think that makes sense. I try to avoid thinking about abortion because it does make me sad. I think it would make more sense if I had considered abortion at any point in my life and the dream occurred out of guilt.. But this isnt the case. I have ALWAYS been extremely against it and never considered it at any time. But I guess you could be right. Its probably just my mind reiterating the fact that I am so strongly against it.
But what I dont get is why I was so passionate about this in particular and why the feeling hasnt faded. I have had previous dreams that involved abortion, but I never felt so horrid as I do now.

@yoinkie, A lucid dream is when you realize you are dreaming broo.

And to @briarxxxrose, dreams are real as long as they last. They are exactly like real life, just not as long. Just remind yourself that it was a figment of your imagination and move on.

@blankey, @briarxxxrose, Lucidity is not synonymous with dream control. It is possible to be lucid and have little control over dream content, and conversely, to have a great deal of control without being explicitly aware that you are dreaming. However, becoming lucid in a dream is likely to increase the extent to which you can deliberately influence the course of events. It sounds to me like you had a great amount of lucidity in this dream, but no control because your subconscious still had control and choose to take you to this thoughts, maybe because you yourself were unwilling to think about them.
