I’m really curious to know, what do you think the purpose of enlightenment is?
What does enlightenment meant to you?
Why or why not strive for enlightenment?
How is enlightenment achieved?
Lots of questions: enlightenment for me is the journey to fully developing your potential, or at least, giving it your best shot to do that. That ends when you die, so it’ll never be a certain point you’ll achieve and then you’re done. Enlightenment is not a end point but an activity that you execute.
How? By getting out of your comfort zone, trying to stay open/ have an open mind, trying not to lose your wonder/ curiousity, suspending judgement, viewing from multiple angles, talking and sharing ideas.
I think the physical aspect is often overlooked. I’ve had my most important insights when I was solo travelling without money, sleeping in staircases/ beaches, being fully exhausted physically and having to give in to your own mindset. Surrending to your own mind can only be done when your body is being pushed to the ultimate. You’ll loose all sense of time, purpos and you have little resources so you’ll have to trust on yourself. It’ll create focus on your own core. You don’t experience that in bed with a book and tea, no matter how often you read the Art of War or the Art of Happiness.
After that solo travel without money thing, I felt amazing. Nothing can get you down when you’ve experienced that, one of the most beautiful and worthwhile experience in my life and can’t wait to do it again.
