When Christian hip hop goes wrong….

So lately I was reminiscing on my Christian days and I remembered something. CHRISTIAN F*CKING HIP HOP AKA Gospel Rap. I remembered some lyrics that I now look at with an obverse eye. These lyrics now just seem very close minded. I only remember two separate lyrics in which it gives the listener sort of a narrow view of the world (which is kind of expected).
Here they are:

“I dream of Muslim nations turn to Jesus” – Dream by Lecrae
I feel he’s assuming that these Muslim nations are wrong to believe what they have believed for generations. Now this next one really gets under my skin at the rapper’s slight ignorance on the basis of his lyrics.

“And uh and if I listen to the colleges
I probably come out sounding like a Darwinist
Agnostic and arguing tolerance I can do whatever no consequence
Partyin’ partyin’ with a couple barbies
Going to Bob Marley spliffs
And my god is in science, psychology
The only problem is Yahweh’s real” – Young by Andy Mineo ft KB
Yeaaa I think this one is pretty self explanatory.

Now these two lines don’t speak for all of Christian Hip Hop. For the most part the genre is pretty interesting the songs always have a message and the rappers are pretty talented. Only thing that bothers me is when it becomes a terrible attempt at confirmation bias for uneducated minds. And I know you might be thinking “hey, you’re just picking lines out without context” and that’s exactly why I wrote this post to get your opinion on these songs and Christian rap in general have you found lines in any other songs of other genres to push a narrow minded agenda into people.

@man-of-the-future, The second guy has a point that science and moral relativisim are religion nowadays, though. It’s been bastardized into a belief system and people take what their false god Science and their high priest scientists say without questioning or critically thinking. Religion is religion, doesn’t matter what you believe in, it’s all the same.

Giving your own mind up to an external body of knowledge (belief system) is religion (Christianity, science, atheism, agnosticism etc.) All these people should really learn to get along better, they have a lot more in common than they realize.
