So I’ve discovered a great way to strengthen your perspective on life when you’re feeling low or depressed. I’ve always found that a good world perspective goes a long way, because when you look at the bigger picture, anything that bothers you seems much more insignificant.
So here it is.
Close your eyes in a quiet place – preferably outside somewhere scenic but anywhere will do. Then drown out all sounds, and focus solely on the darkness. Get lost in the dark, and try and imagine living in the dark – not knowing what’s around you, not having anything around you, anyone around you. Do this for a minute, completely immerse yourself in the dark, into the “nothing”.
Then, open you eyes. Take in every small detail that the world in front of you has to offer. The sky, the grass, the trees. Or if you’re inside, just admire every object you own, that you can grab, that you can put your hands on.
Now where would you rather be? In a world of nothing…or in the world you’re in now?
The universe is a beautiful, mysterious, and phenomenal place and you’re lucky to experience even some part of it, because in the span of the universe itself, being alive for only 90 something years is barely any time at all.
@jquail3, Awww, that was lovely! Thank you, it brightened my day.
One can find so much completeness in admiring nature, there’s that wonderful sense of being whole, filled with life. Adding to the perspective you pointed, my little secret to wash sadness away is whistling a nice song. What a marvelous existence we live in!
Great post man. its true though. we tend to dig deeper into our sorrow than we should at times and it can result in a terrible sense of darkness. But once we realize that the world is more than pain and suffering, but full of life and love, thats when we realize that its time to move on and take advantage of our time here on Earth.
Again, great post my friend.
