Where do I meet girl who's into this kind of stuff?

cory (@cory) 8 years, 9 months ago

I live in Chicago…huge city, so it should be easy to meet girls, right? Well, I feel like most girls are not into ‘HE’ type stuff. Where should I be looking to meet someone with similar interests?

Thank you!

@cory, hey man. Try meditating and when you meditate focus on finding your soulmate. The universe will take care of it from there.

@cory, Most people are not into this stuff. Most people are– *sigh*

@deepwithin, that’s what i’m worried about. the more i get into this stuff, the farther from the norm i become…but i really can’t imagine being with someone who is not at least somewhat open to this stuff :-(

@cory, Would you rather be unfulfilled with someone who doesn’t see the world in a similar way that you do or be by yourself? That answer should be pretty obvious so be thankful that you at least have that.

Second of all, people are a lot smarter than they may initially appear. I know what you’re getting at, but there have also been instances where I have realised after a while that some people just don’t let on as much as they really know (after all, not all of this is exactly prime conversation starter material).

But if you really want to meet people, why not look into events such as book readings/nights, poetry nights, intimate band performances at cafes. When I was in Chicago there were quite a few cool coffee shops around the Lincoln Park area. Might be worth doing a little research and seeing if anything good is coming up?

Otherwise why not try doing some community/volunteer work. You’ll be doing a good thing and regardless of whether or not you want to meet women, I’m sure you’ll come across a lot of like minded people.

@cory, Yes. I feel the same. Personally I’ve strayed in this direction on purpose; it was a necessity for me. I don’t want to be an ignorant fool who’s only as deep as the commercials on TV, so to say. hehe.

But try to look on the bright side – there’s (roughly) 7 billion people in this world. You’re bound to meet someone that you can relate to. In fact, you’re doing it right now. Also, more and more people are getting into this “stuff”; they’re, for a lack of a better word, “awekening”. Just look at the growth of HE. It’s growing rapidly. :)

@cory, Go to a music festival in your area. Concerts are good for finding weird people lol!!

I’ve made a point of talking to girls randomly on campus this year and the thing that’s surprised me the most is how many interesting people exist. Before I thought “Oh I’m this special snowflake and nobody has my interests (This isn’t implying anything, it was just how I felt.)” But now I realize once you talk to people and get into any deep kinds of conversations you see sides of them you’d never expect.

@zhaetur, Pretty much this.

@cory, Better start asking yourself what are you going to do after you actually meet her. Then you certainly will.

@cory, If you figure out who you are and start doing stuff you will enjoy you wil be much more likely to meet someone. Also, talk to people, all kinds of people, and talk about what you want to talk about. You’ll be amazed who else is willing to talk about the same kind of shit :)

@cory, it’s funny that you should post this, I’m also from Chicago-ish and I’m wondering the same thing. Maybe it’s the fact that school has been insanely busy, I don’t really get to go anywhere else and I’m not into anyone in my classes, or into anyone in or around my circle of friends. There does seem to be a severe lack of HEthen types around here.

Try the Art Institute of Chicago. I went to art school. There are a lot of artists who are into this shit. Try some student gallery openings. Find a wing man. Drink some wine. Mingle.

Dude I get where you’re coming from, but honestly just start a deep conversation with someone. EVERYONE has thought about things like this. have you ever seen that comic where its that guy thinking “i’m so alone” or whatever but everyone is thinking the exact same thing?? ITS JUST THAT.
if it doesn’t click, it doesn’t click. Thats cool. Not everyone has to be connected to your soul. but those times that whomever it is that you’re talking to does actually click with you, its a deep connection. Awe-Inspiring.
Go out and make those conversations happen. Talk to the girl you sit next to in lectures. the random lady on the bus home next to you. The guy serving you at the coffee shop. Hit it up and see what happens.
Or move to NZ. jussayin.

@cory,

hrmm… well, i can only express my perspective, but how i chose to see it is, no matter the person, because everyone knows something more than i do, everyone has something to teach me, meaning everyone is interesting,

and when i was at a place where i looked around and thought, ‘meh, no one is smart / interesting enough for me’, i later realized this was just my ego talking, it’s like what Stephen ( @zhaetur, ) said,

–I’ve made a point of talking to girls randomly on campus this year and the thing that’s surprised me the most is how many interesting people exist. Before I thought “Oh I’m this special snowflake and nobody has my interests (This isn’t implying anything, it was just how I felt.)” But now I realize once you talk to people and get into any deep kinds of conversations you see sides of them you’d never expect.–

once i got over myself and just started talking to people, i also realized what Stephen did, the world only ‘seemed’ that way because my ego perspective was making it that way,

the ’cause’ of why we act this way is individual based, but the ‘effects’ are always similiar

@cory,

no, you can live in a huge ass city but not put yourself out there to meet anyone and then never meet anyone…

the first thing you need to make sure you are doing is putting yourself out there, for better or for worse, if you get yourself embarrassed, lesson learned, move on,

are you putting yourself out there?
