From where does your username come? If you want to be grammatically correct. It sounds weird like that, though. Oh well.
Anyway, as the question asks, where does your username come from? What’s the influence and inspiration behind it? Because I’ve wondered about some of your choices and I’ve grown curious. No need to share if you don’t want to, of course. :)
Mine is actually just my last name: Kidd. Nothing impressive or imaginative, really. Never been too worried about people knowing who I am, and people rarely assume it’s my last name anyway.
@kidd, My original user name ‘pipthecynical’ was a long running university joke. Obviously my name is phil leading to pip, the cynical came from an off remark one very drunk night out. yet one that stuck. It then turned out i needed a quick name for a forum sign up and so pipthecynical was born – and carried on and on and on and on,
Piptherational happened when I realised that a user name can automatically influence a persons perception of you. and so positive reinforcement from the beginning is necessary. Especially if the person isn’t aware of the origins of a name.
Pretty simple really.
@piptherational, That’s a good point. Even when people don’t mean to judge, they often do subconsciously, so it’s not a bad idea to use a respectful username. I suppose “Kidd” might come off as immature without context, now that I think about it.
@oreilly, That’s amazing, lol :D If I went with my cat’s name, I’d be Precious. :I
@piptherational, Ha it’s funny because I seen pipthecynical and went to your page to see what was so cynical. A very cool change you made there!
Birdofprey comes from a poem of someone who I’d consider an Idol, Jim Morrison. His poem is simply about a bird of prey flying high in the sky. The adjective, prey, makes it sound cynical in a way too I guess, but the bird is happy I assure you.
Jae the Dream is my artist name. It basically means to find your inner voice and desires and follow them; think for yourself, as opposed to blindly following external influences. That won’t lead to true bliss. Jae is just the personalized factor of it since my name is Jordan.. ya.
@jaethedream, That’s pretty inspiring… Nice choice. The meaning there is beautiful. :)
@ojai, Lol, funky, dude. xD
@udntnome, Fair enough. I know a lot of people who seem utterly different between online and “reality.” Or, not even that. Just the people they hang out with are so different, and they prefer to keep them separate.
My nickname was flower and my friends was savage so we just combined them for a tattoo idea. My username was originally going to be savage flower but i wanted it in spanish. Although destrozada means destroyed, i wanted to change it around anyway.
So @flordestrozada it was :)
@mercurial, Oh, Beyond and Beyond Earth is my alias when I make music, that’s how I present(ed) myself. That’s my pseudonym. I translated it from the Bulgarian word “izvunzemen” that we use for “alien”. It literally translates “out of earth”.
Where does mercurial come from?
