Which parts of your soul have you found so far?

savmot (@savmot) 8 years, 10 months ago

I read a quote once. I can’t remember where it was from, or who it was by, but it said something like this:

‘I like to believe that when you are born that your soul is shattered into lots of different pieces and are spread all around the world. The purpose of life is too find them again, whether they be in books, films, a website, places, activities or other people’.

Ultimately, if you don’t want to look at it in that way, what have you found that adds immense value to your life.

So, my question to you is, in what have you found pieces of your soul so far?

Mine would be….

1. Harry Potter
2. Tori Amos
3. My best friend
4. My dog, Jack.
5. Writing
6. Walking
7. Coversations with God
8. Reiki
9. Glee
10. Veganism

7. Pornography (still figuring this one out )
8. Confrontation

Not sure that these all “add immense value to life” but certainly engage “me” on a level beyond the capacity of my rational and logical mind.

If we are this, then what can our soul not be?

@splashartist, These things resonate which each person in their vibrational energy that they are inhabiting in this dimension

@anjelica, Ah, well what if you resonate with life in it’s totality? Wouldn’t that be the same as what I said then? :D

Anonymous (359) (@) 8 years, 10 months ago ago

@splashartist, That would be cool. I think we all have unique energies though

[Hidden]
Nick (554) (@splashartist) 8 years, 10 months ago ago

@anjelica, keyword “I think”. :) But yes, each form of life is a unique representation of the whole. We all flow with life in our unique ways. The only way something can resonate with you though is if you reject something else that doesn’t. What I am getting at is, if everything is allowed as it is then wouldn’t it all be resonating within and without?

@splashartist, I think they are just different perspectives of the same thing. Its a paradox- we are all unique expressions and we are all one. I struggle with the concept because I question why we are separate physical entities at all if we aren’t meant to express the soul in unique ways, inevitably not embracing other things. In the end it is all the same force but it is separated into different expressions so that everyone can experience the joy and beauty of existence more deeply. Resonating with specific things in life promotes depth of meaning, and resonating with everything promotes acceptance of it all as equally beautiful. But I don’t think it is wrong to resonate with certain things.

@anjelica, Definitely not! Like I said were all unique expressions of life, to deny this is to deny life itself. Your absolutely correct about the paradox. The paradox cannot be understood conceptually, rather only experienced. I’m just throwing in the other side of the coin :)

@savmot, Great post and I see where you’re coming from, but I’d love to get a deeper understanding of what you mean by the word “soul”.

Is it the thing which is being “filled” by the items on the list… or are the items in the list the parts of the soul and when they enter you they “fill” an empty gap thereby making you more complete?

In other words, is the “soul” the fuel(list) or the car(you)?

Secondly. If your soul is simply composed of a list of things you can only experience during consciousness… then what happens to your soul when you’re asleep and have no consciousness, and therefore no connection with any of these things…
Do you have no soul in your sleep state?

And if your soul can simply disappear for 8 hours a day or with a mere hit of anesthetic or knock to the head.. then does it it really deserve to be called “the soul”?

Quotes are great but any statement that starts with the words “I like to believe….” should be taken with a grain of salt…

@papashibshib, The soul is each person’s unique expression of the consciousness that inhabits the entire universe. The lists are made up of things that clearly reflect that energy back to each person.

Anonymous (84) (@) 8 years, 10 months ago ago

@anjelica, I understand what you mean.

But the topic title was a little confusing..
“Which parts of your soul have you found so far?”

How can you find “parts” of your unique expression of the the universal consciousness.

“‘I like to believe that when you are born that your soul is shattered into lots of different pieces and are spread all around the world. The purpose of life is too find them again…”

When you are born are you not already a unique perfect expression of the consciousness that inhabits the entire universe?

Which brings me back to what @splashartist said about resonating with life in it’s totality.

The WHOLE UNIVERSE is experienced through your unique expression of this universal consciousness, not just a few items on a list.

@papashibshib, Since our souls are inhabiting a physical world of change and impermanence it is impossible to constantly be resonating on that infinite unchanging energetic level. The things on the list are significant because they brought us to a clear connection with that soul energy.

I found most parts of my soul in the darkest of times. When I felt really weak and not sure what direction I was facing.

I found strength, when I thought i had none. I found wisdom, that helped lift me.

I found a part of my soul in Gratitude.
In Love, in friendship and in the search for high knowledge.
I found part of my soul in my cities Metaphysical church, and I found part of my soul in each and every day that I wake up and get to better myself.
