Why aren’t there adult sized playgrounds?

Em (@emily)10 years, 2 months ago

Why is it that adult playgrounds are considered strip clubs and casinos? I personally don’t define ‘play’ as being ass raped for all my cash.
How fun would it be if they made adult sized play grounds? I think if everyone could get past the false notion that it’s ‘inappropriate’–people would be in better shape, be in better moods.. Remember playing tag, swinging on the swings, jumping off the swings, the monkey bars, the slides..it was what you looked forward to all day during school. Imagine…50 foot high slides, big climbing walls, huge swings, omg I’d be in heaven

The world is a playground. Jump in the fountain outside of a bank. Climb the trees in the park. Play tag in the grocery store. Swing from the branches of the fake trees in shopping malls.

Haha, as long as it’s a metaphorical, non-painful slap! A slap of joy!

Julian has a habit of smacking people, I think. :)

I just hung out at my fave playground, actually. I jumped over a creek, bank to bank a few times, climbed massive fallen trees, and splashed in freezing cold water with rocks and disturbed some ducks. LOL!

Ahhh good old creek jumping, the source of many wet socks for me!

I was thinking about this earlier. When we are children we are encouraged to go out and run and climb and play, but at some point the world just tells us no that’s weird. It’s just frustrating to me idk. But at least they are starting to build parkour/free running gyms, which is pretty cool.

I DO use playgrounds all the time. I often swing on swings, lol, slide down slides…I find that ideally, a good old fashioned amusement park is like an adult playground. But the lines suck. :)

I just hate the thought of showing up at a playground without kids, and looking…”creepy” LOL!

“HEY LADY! What are you doing??”

And if someone looked at you and yelled “What are you doing?” how would you respond? In my opinion, those who see others doing parkour, or bouldering, or some other fun thing and simply stare are sad people. Frankly, I’d join in!

Lol, @kratoyd, I’d reply, “I’m acting my age, wanna swing with me?”

This is a great idea. some friends and I went down to the park nearby not long ago and just hung out on the swings and bullshitted. and it was a damn good time.
Since when did it become not ok to have fun like a child? Now all were supposed to do is make money and spend money.

I still love going to playgrounds, and still do go whenever I can. Me and my friends invented a game called Ninja tag, it’s pretty much Grounders, except everyone has their eyes open and noone can touch the ground. Its a great game, and on sunny days we go cruising to find new places to play it at.

climbing gyms are pretty much adult playgrounds, but anything that requires money diminishes the fun imo. much better to climb trees or boulders.

I have nothing to add . . . this came up under “random”. one of my favorite topics and it’s got a great TED talk too. Every workplace should have a slide.

So, Bump. Go forth and play!

Am I the only one who finds the original thread and posts kinky ? I think that’s the answer to the whole topic. Voila. :)

I never thought about it before, but I just realized that play is pretty much all I do. This weekend I’m going to go wander around in the woods, collect wild edibles, go for a dip in the river, set up a camp,…play!\
I do like the idea of playgrounds though; proper adult sized monkey bars! Bring on the pain!
