@ijesuschrist, I don’t know how, because I’m not a biologist. But there might be some truth to what the Max fellow is saying about semen recharging you somehow. I don’t know the hard science, but I can attest to feeling more energized when I abstain from masturbation, and the times I have failed, I’ve felt worse. I don’t mean some kind of social, sex guilt trip worse, I mean physically worse. It makes me feel like a mix of dopey, marijuana high and like I’ve been knocked down with a strong cold and it lasts pretty much an entire day afterwards.
this article does not state that not masturbating is bad, but i stand by what i said, because it is a tool by which one can achieve better health, and not using it is therefore being neglectful of your health (unless you get regular sex, then i guess it’s not really needed). also, this is specific to men.
@theskafish, thanks for the support bro, even if what i am saying was complete and utter bull, the point is to let it help you think, and to visualise, denying outright to even go away and mull it over, refusing to take words with a grain of salt is just a waste of energy, and a major hurdle in the quest to expand consiousness
Nope, not masturbating doesn’t make you any special, more productive or spiritual. A lot of dumb shit talk here. No offense, but the only thing that makes you more productive is being productive, what you do to rest – nobody fucking cares. Bodies regenerate fluids, but I’m not going to explain how like you’re in 1st grade or brain damaged. Closest to being a problem is if it’s the only thing you’re doing and not using your energy to do something productive.
@tothemax92, All you had to do was say “My mistake, I didn’t mean that semen actually flows up your spinal cord” and you could have avoided all of this, but you didn’t. Why? Who the fuck knows, you do, mr.ecstasy
@theskafish, YEAH. THAT IS TOTALLY BELIEVABLE. This has nothing to do with your fucking semen swimming up your god damn spinal cord like the movie Alien 3 would depict or something.
I’m sorry for arguing but spewing something of total bullshit and then acting as if you said something perfectly rational is just begging me to come and harass the shit out of you. Expanding consciousness is definitely NOT accepting everything people tell you at face value. I question everything until I get answers, and you weren’t giving me any, Max. I’m not going to get a scalpel and “learn for myself” if there is literally semen frothing up my spinal column, and its a lame excuse to put it on me to do so.
At any rate, I am not here to make you feel bad or argue with you or belittle you. I am here to make you use rational thought, and question things like this. I am here for you (and me) to gain knowledge. If you would have shown me a source of information that gave an explanation as to how semen can be physically recycled back into the brain, I would have gladly accepted that as a brand new, out-of-the-box paradigm, and I would have thanked you for opening that information up to me.
But that wasn’t the case, and still you are trying to defend your initial statement: “semen can flow up through the spinal column to refresh the brain”.
If you would just swallow your pride and say something like “Semen can’t physically travel up the spinal column, but the channeling of sexual energy can be transmuted into productive energy for a variety of things” or however the hell you want to say it we I would be done talking and we could move on.
Sure you can..You dont need it to fell happy or fullfilled.. Good thing wiil be also to chnage this bad habit with another one, and a good one… :)
and being a virgin is the gratest thing ..I think its wonderful state and i reccoment that you keep your virginity and gave it to somebody that is worth it- the person you choose to spend your life with.. :)
@anap83, Yes, I’m trying to find a more healthy and enjoyable habit to take the place. And so far, I haven’t masturbated in a couple of days which is a good start. I’m definitely waiting for the right girl to lose my virginity. I know its sacredness so I’m waiting for the right person, someone that I truly love and care about.
@kahlib, I understand your point, but at the same time I’d like to refute a few of the article’s claims
1. Prevents Cancer
This article sums it up quite nicely, if your body isn’t as sexually active (ie you’re older) then it helps, otherwise it just causes an increase in prostate cancer specific cells.
2. Makes you harder
While this does make sense, kegel excercises provide a more direct benefit to dick strength.
3. Helps you last longer
There’s two sides to this one, one one hand if you haven’t masturbated in a while you’ll last longer than if it’s been weeks since the last solo session. However if you masturbate daily you may have difficulty obtaining an erection with a chick. There’s a lot of stuff online about porn desensitization (I know porn isn’t the issue here but generally these two go hand in hand) that can lead to impotence at a young age.Google nofap or fapstronauts to get an idea of this, it should take you to a reddit page.
4. Ups your immunity
This is anecdotal but I’ve become sick the day after I masturbate. While correlation doesn’t equal causation it is something to think about. Eastern teachings view ejaculation as the body turning all of its energy into the seed of life, and as a result the body is weakened shortly after. Most people get lazy after masturbating and usually sit around (this is more common if you masturbate more often, it’s like you’re “out of fuel”). Personally I notice I get lethargic as shit and am generally less fun to be around.
5. Boosts mood
The article says this happens because of the dopamine spike from masturbation. Masturbating fucks up your dopamine receptors by giving them large stimulus for doing nothing productive. Dopamine rewards you for doing something significant; however, masturbation is kind of a loophole since sex isn’t happening but your body doesn’t fully know that. Constantly fucking with your dopamine levels can lead to all kinds of fun things. Here’s a list of them.
In summation I’m not saying that masturbation shouldn’t be done, but one should realize there are pros and cons to it. If you want a bigger picture read the book “the Multiorgasmic Man”
Also it’s a pretty good read if you want to have sex or masturbate for hours ;)
@manimal if you’ve anything to add it would be greatly appreciated, I remember you knowing quite a bit about this subject
Certain people do it for certain reasons. Maybe just for the pleasure, for the sheer knowledge and experiences to their body reactions, for some damn relief in their chaotic world, to know what they like during sex, to express themselves, Some people don’t masturbate at all but that’s just them. We just do what we do.
Why do we masturbate? To release sexual energy, evolution, fun, boredom, loneliness, mental issues, because we can.. Lots of reasons.
Should we masturbate? There are pros and cons as mentioned above, but I personally think the cons out way the pro’s based on the evidence I’ve come across.
Science discovers the physiological value of continence –
@kazi, I suppose I’m assuming everyone feels shitty after masturbating, but that is because I’ve felt negative mental and physical effects from it. I assume that anyone who touches a hot stove gets burned, and feels shitty after that as well.
Semen does not come from some sort of sperm fairy. The body requires nutrients to make it. When it is masturbated, now the body has to make more, requiring more nutrients. Would you not feel worse after losing a lot of blood?
@theskafish, your analogies are grossly exaggerated. Since when has masturbation been equivalent to handling a burning hot stove? And forget about masturbation itself, how about the releasing of sperm? This happens when you have sex (quiet obvious) so by your logic having sex is bad because your body needs more nutrients to create more sperm, and by your analogy it is just as bad as losing blood.
Your positioning on this topic is wholeheartedly based on your own personal experiences and subjective viewpoints on masturbation. I don’t think you are considering any opposing or objective stand points. Therefore i don’t think you have much to contribute to this discussion.
