so im 2nd year university and guess what, I DONT KNOW WHAT THE FUCK I WANT TO DO WITH/IN MY LIFE ! lol, im realizing i dont enjoy school or the program i’m in… this just seems to be a typical, expected, structured life where i go to school bleh just to get a solid job to then work it for 40 years just to retire with money and maybe pass it down to kids n stuff. Why Havent i thought of this before… I really want to just take a year off next year and work a dece job to make some money and fuckin travel somewhere and just do something crazy and discover the world and what i truly want to do and get out of life. Am I crazy ? Where should I travel to ? Im here in ontario canada(not complaining), but im thinking France. i have elementary school french so maybe ill pick up rosetta stone to re-familiarize myself with it. Anyway, any thoughts or comments i’d really fuckin appreciate it. thanks
@bradenmarchand, Do it, do it, do it… do it. And read the Alchemist if you’re having any doubts! Also, you most likely don’t need to save up as much money as you think you do.. I usually leave on my several month backpacking trips with less than 1000 USD. I’d be happy to help with anything in regard to your travel questions.
Now don’t let anyone talk you out of this.
@bradenmarchand, Well, I’ve never heard anyone say they were miserable when they left school to do what they love. If you don’t know what you are doing in school, that is even further reason to leave. BUT you could always check your schools study abroad program. If you have good financial aid you might be able to travel pretty cheaply
nope you’re definitely not crazy, and if you are that only and all the way in positive way ! ;D go for it man! I can feel your spirit calling to break free!! ;) I love hearing people with such ideas and points of view on life! :) Wild and free! :)) I wanna travel too. I don’t see myself living the average life. School-work-home. REPEAT. I Want ADVENTURES! Adrenaline!! FUN! :D And mainly….discover my true self :)
Stay well brother :)
@bradenmarchand, I’m in the same situation as you are. I was going to college for about 2 years and I thought I was into studying a certain career. I loved it! don’t get me wrong, but although I “thought” I “knew” what I wanted to become, I wasn’t doing so good on my grades. my mom told me to stop going to school for a little in request that I take over the family business for a little because she cannot work as much anymore due to her disability. The plan was to work until next year, until she gets the money issue taken care of, then I can start school again in 2014. so I dropped out of college for now because its my responsibility to work now. But I realized recently that I was only studying this certain career for egotistical purposes. I realized, No. Its not what I REALLY want. The only reason why I chose this certain type of career was to impress everyone (egotistical) and NOT because its something I would be happy doing for the rest of my life. You gotta REALLY KNOW what you want to do. And to be honest, most people go to college and choose a career right after high school because its what EVERYONE thinks its something that you should be doing. the constant Pressure/Nagging and comments from people telling you “you should be in college and your wasting time if your not” is a pain in the ass. Trust me, I know everyone gets picked on if your not doing what everyone “SHOULD” be doing. What a pile of shit! no wonder why lots of adults are F****** unhappy. REALLY, Lets be real. NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THEY WANT TO DO IN LIFE UNTIL THEY’VE EXPERIENCED LIFE A LITTLE. You are not wasting time. You are exactly where you need to be. So do NOT feel bad because you want to get out. There are very successful people that dropped out of college (i.e Steve Jobs) was one of them. My personal philosophy now: Curiosity gives you Direction. Go be that kid you used to be! because when your curious about something, then you WANT TO LEARN about whatever it is that your curious about. The question shouldn’t be, what do you want to do for the rest of your life? It should be, WHAT DO YOU WANT TO KNOW? WHAT ARE YOU CURIOUS ABOUT? WHAT QUESTIONS DO YOU HAVE? Go find the answer my friend. THEN you will see, what makes you curious, and then that will lead you to what you want to do for a career. Things happen for a reason, and I find myself not being in college right now an OPPORTUNITY for me to really know what I want to do in life. I know I know long story but I hope it was worth the time and effort I put into this LOOONG ASS essay (pretty much) that I wrote for you. Only YOU Hold the answers to your own question. You have more than plenty of time to figure out what you want to do in life. Don’t let people discourage you just because your not in school! because your the one who has to go through and choose, NOT THEM! This is just my 2 cents! :)
@viny-anne Im super glad i spent the time to read your essay ;P i appreciate the guidance, and your right, by simply wandering im sure theres something i will fall in love with or and realize ive been in love with forever. ill be sure to update ya on what ends up happening.
