Why women feel so inferior?

Prittii (@prittii) 9 years, 5 months ago

One of the last posts in HE is about feminism and how society sees women as inferior, bla, bla, bla!

I love this website, but I didn’t like this post! I think the idea was to promote feminism and show how women is still discriminated, but, in my opinion, it’s totally unbalanced and actually helps out a lot for some women getting even worse self-esteem than they already have!

So I’m making this post that we can point the ADVANTAGES women have over men… Which are lots! And there is no reason to feel inferior!

Of course if you get into the mechanical engineer university, as a woman you might be victim of some prejudice, but that is as much as a man suffers when he wants to be a nurse!

Here is the point: If you want as a woman (for some crazy reason!) get into “men” world, of course it will be a challenge… and if you are intelligent, I’m sure you’ll master it! I just prefer keeping myself in the fabulous women’s world, where everything is about making life enjoyable, fun and beautiful… and not about getting the nobel prize.

Here it is 10 reasons why being a woman is great:

1. A ship is sinking, who gets in the safety boat? “- Women and children first!”

2. You can wear whatever you want! You can cut your hair short and wear a jeans and everybody will think you are modern… Try a guy wearing a pink t-shirt and long hair: then everybody thinks he is homosexual.

3. Any time you want sex, you just need to announce it! There is always going to be some guy up for it! Not the same situation with guys.

4. Women by birth already have an important function in the society: procreation. Even if you don’t use it, it’s there! But men must find an importance in the society by certain age, otherwise he starts being pushed aside, or even eliminated (military service… wars…).

5. Women are beautiful! Even for other women… We are nice to be looked at! (Men magazine cover = woman; women magazine cover = woman)

6. Women are pleasant by nature! Entertainers, sociable and care takers. Not a surprise so many women like studying sociology, marketing, cinema, pedagogy, psychology…

7. The societies with biggest amount of women in the government are also the most developed societies, because things go better when women are in charge.

8. It’s much easier for women to be accepted by the society as homosexual than for men.

9. Women can dance, cry, scream of fear… and we are not judged for that! Men do the same and get lots of judgement.

10. Women can get multiple orgasms!

So, as we see, men don’t get easy as you thought! So from now on, please women, get rid of this low self-esteem and this wish of being like a man… enjoy being a woman! It’s a blessing and not a burden!

@shaniquaaa, Dear, I’m originally from Brazil! You want a more multicultural country than mine? There isn’t!

I’m living in Germany though and I find pretty inconvenient how the muslin people try to impose their religion, language, etc, into the German society. They even suggested the national anthem to have a part in Turkish! Would you like that to happen to your country?

Read this: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/aug/27/population.eu

That’s where I take my information from. I’m not supposing anything! You are proposing a something completely utopic! Taking people from another country to fill up your own… Maybe in Australia that works, but ask Americans if they want all their women to work, and the South American, African and Asian children to promote the population balance of their country? ;)

@prittii, Not all Australians are bleeding hearts, I, for example, say “Kill the old people” :)
But it is strange how countries of developed means have ever lowering population growth, some times in the negatives like Germany and Japan, while countries full of starving poverty stricken masses are pumping out kids galore. It is insane, developed nations have people who can certainly afford kids but don’t have them, developing nations can’t even feed who they have, I know let’s make more.
Now we balance our aging populations with immigration, but the problem is we are all xenophobes.

@trek79, Ray, you’ll save Australia!

I think it doesn’t work so easily like that. Every country have their own problems; Some have to work in the over population grown.

Imagine this situation: all poor countries, with their lack of information and backwards culture (when I mean backwards culture I mean overly chauvinist to the point of beating women and genital mutilation for example), is going to populate the developed countries… Soon this countries won’t be developed anymore! What makes the country is the people!

@prittii, I really think we should make a new thread on that issue, you down for that? I’ll make it, you bring that statement because I agree that the culture of a certain country is important.

Prittii (55) (@prittii) 9 years, 5 months ago ago

@trek79, Sure! I agree! I already have another point to put on that actually… hehe

@prittii, I can’t imagine how you would understand my reply as being aggressive. Neither do I have the ability to grasp how you deduct from this flawed interpretation that I feel offended by your post.

I said your rant – in my opinion – is superficial. Biased, one-sided, shallow. It’s cool to share “love” but my “love” includes critizing people for their restricted perspective. Perhaps you should learn to deal with critique before you let off your steam.

Feel hugged if you like to ;-)

YO EVERYBODY
i am glad to tell you… you are all wrong.
men and women are not equal… gays and hetros are not equal either… not because they are men, women, gays or hetros… but because they are different… the tall guy is not equal to the short guy, and he don’t have to, they have different qualities… no one is more valuable, no one is worth more than the other, but they’re not equal…same goes for men and women…

DON’T BRAKE DOWN THE GENDERS, BRAKE DOWN THE BARRIERS…

I’ll keep this short and sweet. I am very aware of the advantages and disadvantages of being a female.

@prittii,
“Imagine this situation: all poor countries, with their lack of information and backwards culture (when I mean backwards culture I mean overly chauvinist to the point of beating women and genital mutilation for example), is going to populate the developed countries… Soon this countries won’t be developed anymore! What makes the country is the people!”

yo that is some racist shit to say…
do you realize that what you are saying is that when human beings (like ourselves) come to our part of the world (the quote unquote developed part of the world), they simply keep their old habits, their old social structures and their old look on women, gay/lesbians, or deviants of society. do you not believe that people are in the least capable of learning and moving forward.
i know that when a iraqy or afghan family comes to denmark (this my country of origin) they tend to try and live as easily as posible. they have just fled thousand of kilometers, from religious or social repression, from a place where women get stoned if you get seen on the street with a man that ain’t her husband…they are not interested in trying to change the social structures of the so called developed world, why do you think they came in the first place..?.

and by the way, the turkish bit in the antheme…come on how big a sacrifice is that anyway…if a tenth (i have no way of supporting that number, i just made it up) of the german populace is turkish then why not just let them get their way…plus, turks and muslims are not necessarily the same thing. they are sometimes, but not allways
(nations is part of the old paradigm anyway)
and another thing; you say that it is “inconvenient” when muslims “impose” their world view on the germans, i get really nasty associations to the time around 1933-38. when people felt inconvenienced by a certain group of individuals, with a certain cultural diversion from the norm…
im sorry to use such aggressive language, but if there is something that makes me sick to my stomach, it is racism, whether concious or unconcious…

and one last thing, just because you read something in “The Guardian” does not make is so. and for various reasons… first is;´they could be wrong, everybody makes mistakes. even the most inteligent people does that. second; they might have an agenda. major corporations usually have a lot of business with other major corporations. and things are not allways as simple as they look on top (though sometimes they are) and third, these figures does not necessarily represent the objective truth (as far as there even is such a truth), they might be a product of some single minded statistician who sees everything but the whole picture.(check out freakonomics; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freakonomics)

sorry for the off topic rant…

peace out, one love…

@godlovesugly, Please, don’t suggest I’m racist. It’s very offensive!

You want to see a picture of my family? We are multicolor… I even have a great grandmother Tupi (Brazilian Indian).

I’m talking here about mentality and not about nation or race.

I don’t believe developed countries are developed because they are a superior race. I think it’s all about the history, location, clime… What a coincidence that most developed countries are cold?

The reality is that in Europe grew the only society in the world that teaches respect for all human beings. What does it happen if this mentality ends?

all so i think…lets just relax and do what we do, no discrimination no envy, no shit no bull.we are what we are and become what we set out to…

Manimal (2,998) (@manimal) 9 years, 4 months ago ago

@prittii, Yes I see that’s what you’re aiming for, but most of the points you made were not waterproof. There are many advantages to being a woman, but I find the points you made to be shallow and angled. No offense. It’s great to hear that you’re proud of what you are, people need to be more like that.
Unlike the western “men,” who can’t seem to accept that they are men, all behaving like bitches.

@sabas4, Yes, women have a harder time on the job market, but it’s a lot easier for them to find someone who will give them stuff for free. How many cases of stay-at-home husbands with breadwinner wives are there? How many “trophy husbands” are there? And so on…

And there are many reasons why the job market favours men. The pregnancy bit is just one part of the equation.
First of all, men are (generally) stronger, more motivated, more responsible, more initiative, more solution-oriented, and so on. These qualities lead to better performance, which means they’ll be more valuable to a company.
Then there’s the problem with bringing a woman into a group of men (or a man into a gorup of women) leading to sexualization which can be very detrimental to work-ethic and performance. It’s distracting. And since the job market has been saturated with men for ages, women are the “culprits” in this drama.
There’s also the fact that a lot of jobs require high physical strength and stamina, which very few women are incapable of. I’ve had this kind of job, and sure there were some women trying their wings from time to time but they all failed very quickly.
And these were no girliegirls, these women were buff and masculine, but they simply couldn’t do what the rest of us could, due to biological differences.
Women don’t need work as much as men do either, a man without his work is nothing. Men are made for working, it’s our sole purpose, we’re disposable power.

Domestic abuse and rape are major problems, but most people have a very one-sided view on these things. If a woman gets violent (verbally and/or physically) with a man, society says that’s just ok, “just take it like a man,” but if a man does that to a woman it’s a crime and he’s a scumbag. If a woman forces herself on a man in a sexual manner, nobody minds, they say “she has needs” and “a man must always be willing to fuck” (which just a bunch of bullshit social conditioning, men aren’t naturally more sexual than women, not one bit.)
I’m not saying that men generally do it in a much worse way, and I’m not saying that it’s not more common, all I’m saying is it’s important to consider the bigger picture.

Equality is not on its way. We’ve always been equal, always will be.
But this society has more use for men in most cases, and as such the situation gets a bit unbalanced.

Ellie (1,363)M (@tangledupinplaid21) 9 years, 4 months ago ago

@manimal, you mentioned a few times in your post that men are stronger biologically and more physically capable, so doesn’t that answer why it’s deemed “not as big of a deal” when a women gets violent with a man? It’s a lot more likely that the man can seriously harm the women or restrain her from escaping.

Oh my gosh you guys! This is ridiculous. Everyone needs to chill out! @prittii, was this not supposed to be just a light hearted and fun discussion about a few reasons why being a woman is fantastic? Why does everyone feel the need to make this into a political, feminist “rant” and skewer her for it? Who cares if some of the advantages she posted were shallow or superficial!? Every woman finds different reasons for loving who/what she is, is it necessary to criticize her for it? Instead, we could just be adding to her list more of what we think are positive advantages. Let’s keep the threads positive and loving HEathens!

And @manimal, men are generally “more responsible” than women? Ok…

@collinsj2009, Being a man is fantastic too. That’s why some people even go through sex-change because… just because they want to. Ok, that’s fucked up. But that’s the only thing that matters, to feel good about yourself.

Julia (120) (@collinsj2009) 9 years, 4 months ago ago

@beyond, haha. Yeah I totally agree, being a man is probably fantastic as well. No disagreement there!

Prittii (55) (@prittii) 9 years, 4 months ago ago

@manimal, The western men are not behaving like bitches! Where did you find this idea?

Just the disappointing ones invite you to dinner and later want to share the bill, but I consider it a favor: from the first moment you can see the guy is not ideal, so no waste of time.

In question of jobs, well… I also think men are much stronger, better logical thinking, etc. Like I said before, women are sociable, entertaining and care takers. So that’s why some jobs fit better to men and some to women. If men earn more money, for me whatever! My one will spend it with me anyway. lol

I also want men to occupy the position of men. I don’t like this equality stuff. It’s all great with the differences! Even in what men have more advantage… It’s sexy! I think its really attractive when a guy is powerful, strong, very intelligent, gentleman… Old fashioned men… a creature almost extinct! :(

I don’t agree with you that sex is the same for men and women. Men can get turned on just looking at a woman naked (sometimes not even that – just the imagination do the work!), women need to be touched, physical, etc. Men always have orgasm, women don’t… Some women don’t get even one orgasm during the whole life! I actually know a few that have problems with that… But women’s orgasm are stronger… and longer.

@collinsj2009, “was this not supposed to be just a light hearted and fun discussion about a few reasons why being a woman is fantastic?”

I know, Julia! I can’t understand… I posted totally with good intentions, in a totally not serious way (ship sinking… hello!), but it looks like some men and (worse!) women got offended. They took it too seriously! lol Or God knows what happened! lol!

Hahahahaha. @prittii, I knew a girl that complained she had a hard time having an orgasm. But I didn’t felt sorry for her because apparently that was her only biggest problem in the world. Pretty stupid that one. Oh well… And by the way people get turned on by just imagining things, it’s psychological, orgasms are psychological and it doesn’t matter which gender you are. Same goes for logical and being social or responsible, gender isn’t a criterion.

Isn’t it obvious that when you’re declaring more demands you’re going to have issues?
