I don’t get irked at any specific word, but I hate the way people spell certain words. discusting, wtf is that? It’s ironic I guess, because I use things like wtf, but discusting bothers me. Oh well, fuck words, they are concepts. If you let a concept control your experience, then you are never really experiencing.
@Dominika: I agree about the “bitches” nomenclature. I sometimes act like a bitch, but I am not a bitch.
I hate it when people on the news say “at the end of the day.” It is just used too often. I also hate it when I hear “less” used with a countable noun, but that’s just because I’m a teacher. It’s so commonplace now that we might as well accept it.
“Hate” is a very powerful and extremely overused word. More often than not when a person uses it, they actually do not mean HATE.
Also, what is up with the word “moist”? I have a number of friends that are just grossed out and cannot stand it. Why is that? Of all words, why is “moist” the one word than people can generally agree they don’t like?
Ah… I don’t hate words. I hate prejudice. Overusing a word doesn’t make it with a different meaning, that’s why it has a fucking meaning. Many words are just distorted from their real definition and that’s how mistakes happen. I’m talking about extremely big mistakes by large groups of people. Maybe even the word ignorance is overused..
If it’s offensive to someone, then they think too much about themselves and are very sensitive indeed. Mm… Even what I’m saying is offensive now. Maybe because the words offensive, hate, love, respect, good, bad have a different powerful/not really effect on people. Even the word awesome. Which reminds me of this:

“definately”.
“your” as in “your coming right?”
Alex I’ve gotta agree that “discusting” is disgusting. ROOT WORDS PEOPLE!
On that note, “rediculous”… Wtf? It’s “ridicule” not “redicule”.
The word “moist” is definitely gross.
My first manager used to say “the reality is…” as in “some people want to quit here but the reality is, no one’s hiring”. He was such a dick and I haven’t really heard anyone say that since but it’s still annoying.
When people say “like” too much it also irks me greatly.
When people use “gay” in place of “bad” I hate it. I posted a thread on this a while back and ended up arguing with quite a few people about it.
