Would you move from Los Angeles to Colorado?

B.R.Hope (@brobp2) 8 years, 10 months ago

Hello, I am a 20 year old male and I have lived in Los Angeles all my life. Those of us who live out here know all to well how bad the traffic is on a daily basis. Depending on where you live in LA, the scenery isnt all that great like Hollywood might make it out to be. Granted, the Culture is diverse and Venice beach is just plain AWESOME!!! Lately i have been pondering on making a move to Colorado. On a trip to Colorado springs this past October i totally fell in love with with the freshness of the air and most definitely the scenery. I noticed that the highways were not as jam packed as out here in LA. Gas was cheaper and the people seemed just a little bit friendlier. Maybe its just me but i feel like life would be a lot nicer living in such a beautiful environment. Of course it all depends on what one makes of it but why not break the chain and try somewhere else. I know moving to Colorado would not be blue sky’s and rainbows but it might be worth a shot. Well thank you for taking the time to read this.

P.S I am fully aware that i suck at writing.

@brobp2, Get the fuck outta LA! I lived there for less than a year and had the same experience when I visited northern california.. never looked back. Its also really awesome to live somewhere different from where you grew up to broaden your perspective.. have something to compare to.

@heavydreamz i see it the same way. It seems like it would be a lil hard starting new in a different state. Not knowing anyone at all. Did you move alone?

I’ve lived in north CO for six years and love it. I don’t have much experience with Colorado Springs, but I hear it’s way more conservative than most other areas. I don’t know if that’s something you’d want to take into account.

I had a buddy here in nor cal that offered me a job so I took the opportunity. Meeting new people is fun.. worthwhile to go by yourself and be whoever you wanna be, teaming up with friends to move to a whole new city can easily get co-dependent. I wouldn’t mind moving somewhere by myself at all at this point. Its always good to prepare as much as possible for the move ahead of time.

@equanimity thanks for your input. It is something i am going to take into account. It would definitely take some getting used to since LA is the opposite. Well at least where i grew up.

No problem! I may be able to recommend other areas that are worth looking into if you’re interested. Message me if you’d like and I can get back to you in the next day or so.

I live in Nebraska and Colorado is the promise land that almost every person I know or meet wants to move to. Sounds like the only thing missing is the ocean.

@heavydreamz, being a nor cal native I agree whole heartedly that it is superior to southern.

@brobp2 hey man I’m glad you’re considering it. I live and have lived in Aspen, Colorado all my life but have travelled around the United States a lot and I have to say my two favorite states are Colorado and California in that order. Cali is beautiful and an amazing place and I have often thought about living there or going to college there but in my opinion, you can’t beat Colorado. I live in an especially beautiful place but just being in the mountains is special. The air is so clean, there is so much beautiful nature, and the skiing is the sickest haha. It depends if you are a very outdoors kind of person because I like to hike, bike, camp, raft, fish, ski, and other things. Not to mention Amendment 64;) but seriously, go for it. It actually is blue skies and rainbows pretty much haha

@tangledupinplaid21, the ocean would be a compromise worth taking in my opinion haha. Did some of those people actually make the move to CO?

@kclaibo2, i have experienced enough of that on a 2 week vacation to NYC. haha No thanks.

@possiblehubris, right you are my friend!. hahaha

@jakefloria, You painted a pretty picture for me bro. Thanks. The great outdoors is really something special. Living in the sub urbs i do not get to experience nature for what it truly is. All those outdoor activities sounds good to me. I ought to make it happen sooner then later. Thanks again man.

ive been thinking of a simmilar move. my debate is between north cali (Hombolt area) and colorado, curently im a resident of Pheonix Arizona. i have a brother in hombolt and he absolutly loves it, helped him move there and i have to say the red woods are fucking amazing! im not ready for my move just yet, hoping to teach english abroad so i can gain a nice bit of change and maybe buy a bit of land in n.cali or colorado… where ever you choose to go be sure your prepaired for it; money, transport, food, cothes, living expenses, ect. aslong as you got the basics youll be fine.
i guess what im saying here is be prepaired, once you are GO FOR IT!:)
the only one stopping you, is you

I live in Colorado, I think it’s the best. Surfing is the same as snowboarding up here. It’s a good place to be.

@greatalastor, thanks for the great input. What areas in CO might you be considering? I am almost positive im going to make the change. Just for a litle bit of life experience. I have never been to the redwoods before although i have heard a lot about it. Thats also on my to do list.

@vanguard, Sounds good to me!
