You Are The Last Person On Earth

 JonH (@IJesusChrist) 7 years, 8 months ago

You are the last person on Earth.
After you die, the Earth will explode into literal nothingness and the sun will consume the solar system.

You have one day left.

I have two questions 1 broad 1 specific.

Specific;
You wake up in Northern California, next to the largest tree in the world a Sequoia. Next to you is a nice green ball. It has a note under it; it says ‘if you pick me up, the big tree will fall down – you will get to watch the largest tree on Earth fall.’
Do you watch it fall or do you leave it alone? Remember – everything is going to disappear after you leave. Your actions will have no effect on the physical environment after the explosion.

Broad;
You’re the only one left and you can teleport anywhere with 24 hours left.
What do you do?

Leave it alone.

I’m torn between the idea of teleporting to some new place or multiple places that I’ve always been curious about, and teleporting to a special pace in the cedar forests of Montana to a really epic, beautiful swimming hole with turquoise blue water that I never got the chance to take a swim in. Making a little bonfire out of cedar sticks and duff and just chillin’ out.

Yes to the tree. Anywhere..a deep dark lake surrounded by trees, and a cliff where I can enjoy the view and the sun.

Specifically, I would start to wonder. What kind of pleasure would I get from watching a really big tree fall? Wouldn’t it damage the surrounding environment? But what would it matter? Within the day everything will be gone. But right now in this moment, everything’s alive and living, so how does knowing future outcomes justify my current actions? Hmm. I would then start to think about how the tree feels. Maybe it gets tired of standing there all the time. Maybe it would enjoy falling? But if it has never experienced falling, in what way would it desire to? After thinking about it for a bit, I would probably keep it standing. I would then try to find my way to the closest beach for a little r&r before shit hits the fan! :)

Broadly, I would go to japan, then tibet, then any other place of interest I would remember at the time.

Leave the tree. Maybe I would try to climb it.

I would visit the highest peaks of Earth, of each continent. And the place where I was born

Leave the tree. Tie a couple cinder blocks to my feet and transport myself to the middle of some random ocean so i can get on to my next life in some other galaxy.

I’m just wondering why only after I’m gone will the earth explode and sun consume the solar system. Like, why my death will be the catalyst. I can’t get past that part to worry about a damn tree. And that ball. Theres a note UNDER it. so I have to pick it up to even see it. or roll it, which I’d guess would have the same effect. I wouldn’t know what’s going to happen so I’d just pick it up. Fuck that ball.

Option B: Get over the whole senario. Pick up the ball. Teleport to the top of the tree as I pick it up. Enjoy the ride. Still I can’t help but despise that damn ball.

1. Yeah, probably. Can’t say for sure, haven’t been there yet.

2. Check out the tallest peaks, the deepest ocean floors, the lushest forests, the deepest caves, the places that used to mean something to me, the biggest most dense cities, the harshest wastelands, the poles, the sites of the greatest wars, the places where geniuses grew up, etc.

Then I’d teleport to another similar planet, get patched up and go on. I would tell the story about earth to the inhabitants, not that I think they would believe it, but it would be a good story.
And I’d become an entertainer, it should be easy since I’d be an alien from a distant galaxy and that can’t be very common anywhere.

tree will die anyway and i wont be there to see it. i would pick up the ball to see one fragment of mega destruction that is about to come. or not. im not sure anymore. depends on my emotional state. :P

i dont have limit on number of teleports? i dunno, i would travel all around the world.

Leave it alone.

I would teleport to random places for the most part enjoying the world how it truly is. Then of course the Grand Canyon, the Great Barrier Reef, Ocean Road, and finally the moon to watch the destruction (assuming I could survive). Then teleport as far as
Possible and go from there

Ehh… You see one tree fall you’ve seen em’ all, I’d let the tree die in peace.

If I only had one teleport I’d probably go to some city. I’ve always wanted to run around, breaking things, waltzing into stores, exploring apartments, the places people lived, I think it’d be a good way to remember humanity. In my final minutes I’d either go to a stadium or a sky scraper, drink a beer, smoke a joint, play the song “Black Peter” as loud as I could on a PA I took from a music store and watch the world end.

If the note is UNDER the ball then I’ve already made the tree fall without intending to by picking up the ball to read the note.

Broad question is tough – so many places! Maybe the Vatican Museum: to see the artistic treasures that have been hidden from the world’s eyes for centuries.

Pretty sure I would watch the tree fall.

Firstly I would visit places I’ve lived in the past, and visit places that held great memories. Then I would go see as much cool shit as possible, and visit as many places as I could think of. I would spend quite some time in a forest after that, try and see some cool animals (if they’re still around), and chill. For the last hour I would find a mountain, and reflect, waiting for a glimpse of the madness before I vanished with the earth.

Wow…What was in your Wheaties today? :D

I sooo love old trees…just the way they are.
First, I would go to THE Best Cannibis farm & have at. With pockets full, I would hit up THE Best Winery & have at. With bottle in hand, I would go to a fab studio, crank the tunes, & Dance my intoxication off. Back to Tree to rest, pouring the wine I had onto it’s roots. There’s about 8hrs., give or take a few mins.

Then off to find a Friesian Horse to ride the winds, woods, & beaches for another 8 hrs. or so. Since there are no other humans to fear, the Fey & Yeti can come out to play, & so we will…along with any others who would like to romp, as well.

My last teleport would be to an Eagle’s aerie in a wing suit, & at the final moments, I would smoke my last doob in grand gratitude for the day, leap off, & know the feeling of flying. My little particle of energy would be so full of pure Joy that the Sun would taste me & lick it’s chops with a big “Yummay!” And I’d be Home. :D

That was sooo fun! Thanks for the Amazing foods for thought, Jon!

Specific; I would not pick up the green ball, for the reasons of it being it is a living thing and it has the right to live until the end of times, also its because i wouldn’t do it, its just too “not right”.

Broad; I would visit all of the world and be amazed by everything i see, and my last teleportation would be back home :)
