You Are Truly Alone

Zykanthos (@chodebalm) 9 years, 2 months ago

Some of you may have realized this already. Some of you may not fully realize it yet. But you are truly alone.

You only have your own, personal, unshareable viewpoint of the world for as long as you’re alive. You can only experience the world through your own brain. It’s just you in there. No one else. You are truly forever alone.

This can be both scary and yet liberating. Scary because, well, it’s just not a pleasant thought to realize. Liberating because with this realization, you come to understand that you have all the power you’ve ever needed to create the life you want. Your life is in your hands, and because you are part of the divine creation, you too can partake in the creation of your reality.

Just some thoughts I wanted to share. I’d rather share these sort of thoughts on here than, say, Facebook. Thanks for reading.

Any expansive thoughts are appreciated, so feel free to share.

@chodebalm, alone in my thoughts. Well said.

@seeker, Exactly. The good news, though, is that we are not our thoughts. You can actually learn to separate yourself from your thoughts. Meditation is the key to that. I’m no master of meditation, but I am able to experience brief moments of thoughtlessness when I practice it. It’s quite beautiful.

@chodebalm, everything is thoughts.

@optimystic, Roger that.

@chodebalm, Exactly. And it is scary, but definitely more liberating. Just because you are truly alone doesn’t necessarily mean you’re lonely. If you find comfort in your thoughts, then it’s cool.

I’m walking around like I own myself.

@chodebalm, I’ve experienced this thought of yours on a very real sense when I was tripping acid, staring at myself in the mirror for like an hour. I realized I am an essentially closed circuit while I was washing my face with a hot towel. It was scary at first.. and I felt like, ‘what the fuck, there is no way out.’ What will I do? Love was the only apparent answer.
I continued staring in the mirror and became aware of my ancestry and how prized I am to them and that was pretty fucking damn comforting.

@chodebalm, Lol I had a word for this lonely sensation. It was intangible. It was like a trainwreck of syllables, impossibly concrete.

@chodebalm, Most definitely. I’m grasping more each day on this concept of being, “alone”. In the sense that, just like a film, we’re all creating a storyline of our lives. And although, the journey is spiritually made for the specific individual, the relationships with everyone in our lives, even the door man is a reflection on us and our story and oh-so important.

@chodebalm, @danfontaine, alone in greek means all one
if we can be all one in our aloneness then it is a fullfilment of our being, a great understanding.
if we suffer the illusion of lonliness then we are not understanding

funch i had that same trip on acid when i was your age. i remember my face morphing for what seemed like hours and knowing that no one could ever perceive me, or understand me. i felt my aloneness.
it is a sort of identidy crisis you go thru in the physcadelic opening process. to find the doors of your all oneness.

@siantastic, No you definitely hit the nail on the head about how “alone” doesn’t necessarily mean lonely. I couldn’t agree more. I live by myself in my own apartment and people ask me, don’t you get lonely? All I can think of to say back is, no….because I happen to like myself.

@beyond, lol!

@danfontaine, That is awesome bro. And I find that trying to describe it is something you don’t really have words for. It’s almost like a void of everything, if that makes sense. It’s everything and nothing, all encompassing. I dunno. I wish I could sustain the feeling for long periods of time.

@stonedragon21, Wow….that’s a very cool concept. “All one”. I just noticed….”alone”….split it up into 2 parts, “al one” (though obviously not grammatically correct). Thank you for this! :)

Made me think of this Italian song by Jovanotti–Fango.

“Io lo so che non solo solo
Anche quando sono solo,
Io lo so che non sono solo.”
(I know that I am not alone
Even when I am alone
I know I am not alone).

I’m studying abroad in Italy right now, and so I feel alone a lot more often even surrounded by people. But this is an interesting thought. I certainly agree with you.

@chodebalm, Alone in thoughts. Unified in awareness. Unified in the fact that we are all stardust. I think we can also relate on a spiritual level because true spiritual understanding seems to be one in the same.

Keep meditating. I would get fresh ideas like you just posted about when I started.

Make sure you know that you’re physical brain tries to piece things together that you come to realize in meditation. That being said some of the ideas may be flawed.

Keep meditating though man. You’re about to embark on an amazing life journey if you stay on this path :]

@chodebalm,

We are alone in a sense yes, but we fill this void of loneliness with others. Others that share that very same fate of what you described. 7 billion people have this in common, haha

You are not alone my friend.

Zykanthos (4,757)M (@chodebalm) 9 years, 2 months ago ago

@peaceriot, No you’re absolutely right bro. That’s what’s frustrating, and that’s why the brief moments of thoughtlessness cease, because my mind tries to rationalize what I just experienced. It’s like my mind tries to stop me from leaving. It pulls me back in.

@grandkintaro777, If everything and everyone is connected and is truly all one, then you are truly alone. And that’s the point I’m getting at. All 7 billion souls are connected to the same source, making us the same, one thing at our very core.

“you are truly alone”

Speak for yourself. People coming over unanncounced, friends calling all the time, nobody giving me time to work… iiieee. I wish I was truly alone.

@chodebalm, Damn straight. Not sure I’d agree when you say you are not your thoughts. Our thoughts are all we are, it is just important to remember that our ego can have its own agenda, and not to let your negative ego get in the way of progress.

“No matter how close each of us becomes to another, there remains a final, unbridgeable gap; each of us enters existence alone and must depart from it alone. The existential conflict is thus the tension between our awareness of our absolute isolation and our wish for contact, for protection, our wish to be part of a larger whole”

I guess Highexistence is “our wish for contact, to be part of a larger whole”
Many of the discussions on Highexistence are closely tied to existentialism… interesting.

@chodebalm, After awhile you can switch mindsets it’s crazy.

Here’s an example. I come to the realization that I’m a soul almost every time I meditate.

So when I’m walking around and my mind is telling me all these things I “need” to take care of. I take a deep breath and think about how I’m a soul and non of this stuff even matters. I’ve already done what I needed to do to become eternal… that may seem a little far fetched but lets say that my soul isn’t eternal… I still get filled up with this warm joy that all this stuff my mind worries about doesn’t matter. It’s literally a warm feeling followed by some chills so my body can adjust I think. All from one little thought that I have an eternal now haha.

Then I just make kick ass decisions and my life becomes greater by the minute. Most importantly I try to help everyone become great.

I come off as pushy a and this is where the lonesomeness you speak of sets in.

Until I come on high existence.. When I come here I realize I am not alone in this world. It’s very easy for me to say that I love this website.

@peaceriot, That is awesome. I wish I were able to do that. Maybe someday I’ll get to that point. Thanks for the inspiration!
